TheĀ  eYMHFA Wales course teaches adults how to provide Mental Health First Aid to young people and can be completed from the convenience of your home or office, without the need to travel and at your own pace through interactive modules and webinars online.

Mental illnesses often start in adolescence or early adulthood and it is important to detect problems early to ensure the young person is properly treated and supported. The YMHFA Wales course teaches adults who have frequent contact with adolescents, such as parents, guardians, school staff, sport coaches and youth workers, how to assist adolescents who are developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis.

The eYMHFA course teaches adults how to assist adolescents who are developing any of the following mental health problems, experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health problem or in a mental health crisis:

The Youth Mental Health First Aid Wales course is now available as a qualification.

To gain a qualification in MHFA Wales you will need to attend the full Youth MHFA Wales course, at the end of the course you will have the opportunity to complete an accredited workbook. The workbook will need to be assessed by your instructor before you are awarded the qualification.

MHFA Wales courses are accredited by Agored Cymru in partnership with Adult Learning Wales.

The online Adult Mental Health First Aid Wales course is based on international MHFA Guidelines. Curriculum content is evidence-based, with the input of mental health professionals, researchers, and consumer advocates.
Mental Health First Aid Wales has been adapted for Wales by Mental Health First Aid Wales Ltd.

*Please note that due to the nature of the topics covered within training, it is important that participants ensure their own comfort and safety. Please only undertake this course if you feel comfortable with the topics covered and take wellbeing breaks if and when needed.
**MHFA Wales is only licensed to provide this training course for those who live and/or work in Wales. Participants from other countries who wish to become trained in MHFA will need to contact the national provider licensed to deliver in their country.
