About Me

Sophie Gorst, Clinical Service Manager – I have had the huge privilege to be in the position to lead on the development of the CAMH School In-Reach from pilot through to it becoming a service since September 2018. As a registered social worker, I have worked for BCUHB for more than 10 years, entering as a Primary Mental Health Practitioner with the Inspire Youth Work Service based at Wrexham Maelor Hospital.     I originally trained as a Youth and Community Worker working for the Caia Park Partnership, Wrexham and then going on to be a Home-Start Organiser recruiting volunteers as part of a befriending scheme for parents with young children in both Liverpool and Flintshire.   I moved on from this to join the NSPCC where I trained to be a social worker via the University of Lincoln and practiced as a school-based counsellor in schools across Wrexham prior to joining the NHS.    I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of developing the School In-Reach Service, learning new things everyday about our colleagues in education and the pressures they experience day to day.   As a MHFA instructor the courses have been pivotal to promote mental health across the education sector and others who support adults and young people. It is great to present the course and be able to answer any additional questions and provide localised information about services.
